A reclining Timothée Chalamet reminds us why the tie-dye is not yet done
Timothée Chalamet is a true Stella McCartney star, as evidenced by the myriad fan efforts to archive every moment the actor wore his creations. He’s wearing Stella on the red carpet — see: the Little woman magenta costume, which was almost overshadowed by an Eiffel Tower keychain. And he wears Stella on a casual day, like yesterday, when he posted a fit photo on Instagram – with him lying on the ground, half on the grass and half on a concrete catwalk, like one does it – while wearing a pair of the brand’s marbled tie-dye jeans.
Eagle-eyed fans noticed he also wore a matching t-shirt during his Saint-Tropez jump last month, as well as a pair of very similar denim back in December during accommodation Saturday Night Live. (Timothy stans: some of the smartest detectives of our time.) And like that, we get back on the tie-dye bandwagon once more.
We know what you are thinking: Haven’t we reached the peak of tie-dyeing? But Timmy’s Stella pants look like a further evolution of the wavy sauce trend that has skyrocketed during high COVID. Unlike the DIY energy of your average tie-dye, the Stella pants are decidedly high-end and professional-grade. They concern as much the absence color as its presence… and isn’t it a neither-here-nor-there version of tie-dye adapted to the neither-here-nor-there space in which we continue to find ourselves?
Timmy’s exact marbled-print Stella pair is currently on sale on FarFetch – though a fair warning, it’s in limited sizes, and women’s sizes plus. So we’ve created a few pants with similar vibes (if not the exact pattern) to help you advance your own tie-dye experience.
