Aditya Chopra makes rare appearance on wife Rani Mukerji’s birthday, actor says daughter Adira also hates being clicked

Rani Mukerji celebrated her 44th birthday on Monday with her family and friends. Along with celebrating with her relatives in the film industry, she also went to a birthday lunch with her filmmaker-husband Aditya Chopra. The couple were pictured at Bandra in Mumbai. It was also one of the few appearances by Chopra, who prefers to stay away from the paparazzi.

Rani was spotted at a restaurant wearing a blue denim dress which she paired with a pair of trainers. She was twin with her husband who wore a blue sweatshirt and blue jeans for his wife’s birthday lunch. He was seen carrying two ice creams in his hand.

Earlier on Monday, famed designer Manish Malhotra posted photos from Rani’s birthday party. The party was attended by actor Anil Kapoor, filmmaker Karan Johar and choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant.

Recently, in an interview with Mid-Day, Rani talked about her daughter Adira. Although the actor is known to have asked the paparazzi not to click on photos of his daughter, she revealed that even Adira doesn’t like being photographed.

She recounted how Adira cries out “No mom, no photo” when she sees photographers around her. Recounting an incident upon her return from the airport, Rani revealed that Adira was not happy that the paparazzi clicked on her mother’s photos too. She told Rani, “Yeh bhaiya log bahot ganda hai na mumma aapka photo hamesha lete rehta hai (those people keep clicking pictures of you, they are very bad).” So I said ‘haan bhaiya log bahut ganda hai. (Yes, they are very bad).’ Then she asks ‘haa mumma kyu lete rehta hai (But why are they clicking on your picture)’, I said ‘mujhe bhi nahi pata babu (Even I don’t know).’”

On the work side, Rani is looking forward to her next film, Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway, a film which she says is close to her heart. Calling it an “incredible story of human resilience,” Rani said in a statement, “I am very emotionally invested in this story as it relates to me as an actor and a mother.”
