As India goes through a terrifying second wave of Covid-19, many Bollywood celebrities have started to help through social media. Actors like Bhumi Pednekar, Akshay Kumar, Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif, Shahid Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal and Dia Mirza have shared information related to COVID-19 resources on their Twitter and Instagram handles.

After returning from vacation in the Maldives, Alia Bhatt launched a ‘Circle of Hope’ initiative with journalist Faye D’Souza to help gather useful resources for Covid-19 patients and their caregivers. On Monday, Alia took to her social media platforms to share a note saying that these days infrastructure and information are the need of the hour. Its social media handles are filled with verified information about Covid-19 resources.

Shahid Kapoor and his wife Mira Rajput used their Instagram pseudonyms to amplify resource information such as the availability of beds, medicine, free food and hotlines.

Bhumi Pednekar, who recently tested positive for Covid-19, called on his fans and followers to donate plasma to save the lives of critical patients due to the infection. She also shared information about resources related to Covid-19 on her social media handles and was instrumental in finding hospital beds and oxygen cylinders for the needy.

Katrina Kaif, who tested negative for Covid-19 last week, also shared information about Covid-19-related resources verified by BMC from Mumbai on her Instagram.

Dia Mirza, who is pregnant and isolating herself at her home in Mumbai, shares information on Covid-19 resources and lists of vaccination centers in Mumbai since the time India began to face a bed shortage hospital and oxygen in early April. She also shared details on food for the needy.

Sonam Kapoor, who is in London, shared lists of hospitals where intensive care beds are available.

As these actors use their social media platforms to reach those in need, Salman Khan is doing his part for the frontline workers who work tirelessly to help people in these trying times. Salman has sent 5,000 meal packages for Mumbai police personnel and will send more in the coming days.
