American Crime Story Impeachment Season 3 News, Cast, Release Date

American crime story, the Emmy-winning FX series, which gave audiences a glimpse of OJ Simpson’s trial and the assassination of Gianni Versace, will address a new and eerily relevant topic in its third season: the impeachment of President Bill Clinton.

The season, well titled Impeachment: American Crime Story, will explore the case against Clinton, which sadly involved his sexual relationship with White House intern Monica Lewinsky. Clive Owen will play the role of Clinton, while Beanie Feldstein will take on Monica Lewinsky. The season, which was originally slated to start filming in March before the pandemic hit, has now officially started filming. John Landgraf, president of FX Networks and FX Productions, said when announcing the season in August 2019, “Impeachment: American Crime Story will… explore the neglected dimensions of women who found themselves caught in the scandal and political war that cast a shadow over the Clinton presidency. ”

Here, everything we know about Season 3 so far, including Sarah Paulson’s savage transformation of Linda Tripp.

ACS alum Paulson will play Linda Tripp, the woman who secretly filmed Lewinsky confessing to the affair.

Paulson said Deadline that playing the part is “totally difficult in a way that is very exciting for me as an actor, but it’s not very easy to live in as a human being.” She added: “I think of something Steve McQueen told me when we were shooting 12 years of slavery with him, how important it was to me to take a step back from my own judgment of the character and not sit in a judgmental space, and that that wouldn’t help me play the part, and that wouldn’t wouldn’t help me tell the story… Unlike Marcia Clarke, who has been so misunderstood and wrongly vilified, this story with Linda is much more complicated. I don’t think a lot of people in life don’t stand in front of the mirror and constantly evaluate what they’re doing. I think Linda just wasn’t one of those people who maybe wasn’t aware of how far this story was going to go and what her role was. “

Does Monica Lewinsky approve of the project?

Feldstein, who plays Lewinsky, will be the producer of the series, with the real figure herself. The show will be written by playwright Sarah Burgess, who will also be an executive producer, alongside Ryan Murphy, Paulson and others. At the beginning of September, Michael Uppendhal (Fargo, Mad Men) stepped in to direct and produce the series after previously announced director Richard Shephard left due to the delay in filming, per Deadline.

In the past, Murphy has said he would only feel comfortable working on a Clinton impeachment season if Lewinsky, who became an anti-harassment campaigner after coming under close scrutiny. and the press, was involved. He once said Hollywood journalist, “I said [Monica Lewinsky], ‘No one should tell your story besides you, and it’s kinda gross if they do. If you want to produce it with me, I would love that; but you should be the producer and you should make all the money. ‘”

Lewinsky recently donated Vanity Show an exclusive statement on how she came to work on the project. She wrote:

I was hesitant and, frankly, was more than a little afraid to sign. But after a long dinner with Ryan, I have come to understand even more clearly just how determined he is to give voice to the marginalized in all of his brilliant work. I have the privilege to work with him and the other talented people on the team, and I am privileged to have this opportunity.

People have been co-opting and telling my part in this story for decades. In fact, it is only in recent years that I have been able to fully reclaim my story; almost 20 years later.

But I’m so grateful for the growth we’ve made as a company that allows people like me who have been historically silenced to finally bring my voice back into the conversation. It’s not just a problem for me. Powerful people, often men, take advantage of those who are subordinate to them all the time in a variety of ways. A lot of people will see this as such a story and for that reason this tale is, unfortunately, evergreen.

How can I find out more?

According to Variety, this third season will be based on the book by Jeffrey Toobin A vast conspiracy: the real story of the sex scandal that nearly brought down a president, if you want to dig deeper into the story before the show premieres.

Toobin’s book The Race of a Lifetime: The People v. OJ Simpson also inspired the show’s season on the OJ Simpson trial.
