Singer Beyonce and Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner are among the celebrities who have supported Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle after her explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.
“Thank you Meghan for your courage and leadership. We are all empowered and inspired by you, ”Beyonce wrote on Tuesday, just a day after Markle and Prince Harry spoke about their lives for the first time since stepping down from their roles as members of the British Royal Family. She also posted her photo with Markle and Harry from the Lion King premiere.
Markle, in her interview, said being a constant target of the British tabloids took a toll on her mental health and that she was even considering suicide. The biracial actor also revealed that a senior royal has expressed concerns over the dark color of their son Archie’s skin.
Turner, in her Instagram Stories, wrote: “Meghan Markle probably won’t see your negative comments saying you don’t believe she was suicidal … but your friends and family who have been in the past will, and they will. never come and ask for help. Don’t be that person.
Buckingham Palace issued a statement on behalf of the Queen on Tuesday saying the Sussexes’ allegations of racism were “taken very seriously”. Tennis star Serena Williams, Hugh Jackman and Markle’s Suits co-star Patrick J Adams also tweeted for her support.
