Pharrell Williams founded Black Ambition, an equity-focused initiative that aims to level the playing field across industries and spotlight black and Latin students and entrepreneurs at historically black colleges and universities, or HBCUs. Taking its support to new heights, the nonprofit has partnered with luxury fashion house Chanel to launch a two-part mentorship program, designed to support emerging talent.

Through mentorships, workshops and a panel of leading experts contributing their knowledge, the collaboration’s dual agenda aims to prepare Black Ambition attendees for great success, while also bringing the musician’s long-standing relationship with the legendary house as a brand ambassador. to a new level.

The first stage of the program includes an intimate discussion about women in leadership, during which seasoned professionals will offer career advice and industry insight to the proverbial new class. It will be animated by BAZAARSamira Nasr Editor-in-Chief, with Actress and Pattern Beauty Founder Tracee Ellis Ross, Medley Co-Founder Edith Cooper, Good American Co-Founder Emma Grede, and Imaginary Ventures Co-Founder and Partner Natalie Massenet. The goal is for the semi-finalists to start building a community on which they can grow their business.

Following the virtual panel, a series of engaging workshops to teach award finalists valuable business creation skills, tailored to each of their personal needs. This second pillar will also cover the key points and practices necessary to launch and maintain a brand. In other words, the program is meant to serve as an incubator for emerging talent, giving them everything they need to thrive into successful and established businesses or individuals.
