Gabrielle Union took a nature-focused route to celebrate Mother’s Day, singing ducks with her daughter Kaavia James Union Wade.

The ‘Cheaper by the Dozen’ star filmed an Instagram reel with her daughter, where the couple approached a set of ducks – reputedly Dory and Darnell – in their backyard, singing a Luther Vandross ballad to them . For the occasion, Union was dressed in a lavender knit dress that featured an all-over ribbed texture. The piece was completed with a polo-like button-down collar with dark pink piping. Her look was completed with dainty earrings.

“Happy Mother’s Day!!!! The best parenting advice I’ve ever received is to understand that no two journeys are the same, so try to do what’s best for YOU and err on the side of love. love and compassion as we all try to find the best path. we know how,” Union captioned the sweet video. “Don’t judge and definitely don’t think your path is the ONLY path. learning and growing while embracing responsibility. To all the moms, mothers-in-law, bonus moms, aunties, neighborhood heroes, grandmothers, and all other caregivers who do this glorious work, CHEERS TO YOU!!!!Also, it’s clear that I don’t know if the ducks much prefer Luther uptempo.

As for shoes, Union opted for a set of black slippers. With rounded closed toes, flat soles, and plush charcoal-colored lining, the whole thing felt comfy and cozy. Union’s choice of shoes also proved ideal for wearing around the house, as it seemed easy to walk around her yard without falling.

Slippers and slides like Union’s have been popular options for comfortable footwear lately, with many pairs featuring rounded, closed-toe silhouettes with flat soles. Sheepskin or faux fur accents and lined hats also give these pairs extra comfort and a whimsical, playful appeal. In addition to the ‘Being Mary Jane’ star, stars Kristen Bell, Ashley Tisdale and Dakota Johnson have also slipped into Ugg, Gucci and Charvet slippers in recent weeks.

However, make no mistake: Union is no stranger to a pair of sleek heels, rocking platforms with a glitzy Versace dress with hubby Dwayne Wade at the 2022 Met Gala last Monday.

When it comes to shoes, Union always opts for the daring. The “Breaking In” actress often favors current trends, like Magda Butrym’s flip flops, By Far and Gia Couture’s collab with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. She is also known for wearing strappy sandals and tall boots from top brands such as Paris Texas, Tamara Mellon and Tabitha Simmons. When off duty, Union prefers chunky sneakers from Adidas, Reebok and Nike.
