Gwyneth Paltrow gives advice on using the Goop vibrator

Gwyneth Palthrow has never shied away from doing anything. The actress is now her goop lifestyle brand, the one stop destination to reach the peak of Gwyneth-ness, jade egg and all. But despite the controversial Hollywood wellness trends (which I have delved into a lot of myself), one thing is clear: She has helped normalize talking about your vagina in ways we maybe needed. even though we weren’t asking for a candle that smelled like it.

As an influencer who influenced before influencers were a thing, the actress and entrepreneur gives us another solid: Gwyneth partners with Rakuten to celebrate their Big Give Week, their biggest shopping event of the year. . The ecommerce platform is known for its program which allows members to purchase hundreds of brands and automatically earn cash back. This week, through May 17, you can earn 15% Cash Back every time you shop at its hundreds of retailers, including goop (Levi’s, Intermix, Mejuri, to name a few).

In other words, you have been tempted to buy the goop vibrator before, so now is your chance to make some money doing it. SHE met Gwyneth on the phone and we asked her about how to actually use the sex toy, what coffee she’s traveling with and what’s in her basket.

Goop has just launched its first vibrator. Do you have any tips for using it for someone new to the world of sex toys?

I think the advice is, follow your own example. Trust yourself!

Is there something in your basket right now that you haven’t pulled the trigger yet?

Let’s see, I’m going to my goop cart right now. Because there are things in my basket. I know I have a new vitamin C serum stuff, this goop does. Wait, let me look at my cart here … Yeah. So I have in there, the GOOPGLOW Hyaluronic, and I have, oh, this Kosas Air Brow Clear Lifting Treatment. I want to try this. Yes. And, I also have a super skin serum, SPF, a foundation from Ilia. I want to try that too. I’m about to pull the trigger, but saw if there is … I’m kind of in the mood for something maybe short or floral, something a little upbeat for spring.

Are there other summer trends you can’t wait to try out? Summer, spring, something like that?

I was very excited about some bold prints or colors like I said. I feel, even though I’m wearing sweatpants right now, I really, really, really feel ready to never see sweatpants for quite a while. And then, I’m kind of excited about the actual shoes. I found a pair of Gabriela Hearst.

What’s your worst shopping habit?

My worst shopping habit is that I’m too generalized. I’ll be like, maybe, okay, I’m going to keep going because I need a specific thing. And then I’ll be like, “Well, maybe I need it in three other flavors, too?” Or maybe I need to try something else. And so I’ll buy too many and have to return a bunch of stuff.

I feel around COVID, and during COVID, I became so aware of how much stuff in our homes and apartments we don’t need. And I was doing major cleanups, giving away a ton of stuff, selling stuff on The RealReal and trying to really streamline. So now I’m trying to be really aware not to pile things up without really thinking about it.

What’s the one thing you’ve stuck with in your kitchen for decades?

I always have to have a coffee. This is a big problem for me. I still have to have Brooklyn Roasting. I think, Brooklyn Roasting Company. It is my favorite cafe in the whole world. I travel with it, I always take it with me everywhere. Yes. I mean, I get it every week. And then, I still have to have our GOOPGENES face oil, which is my obsession. What I must always have.

Here’s the ultimate beauty question: what’s your favorite lip balm?

My favorite lip balm is, I’m sorry to say, our gooey lip balm. It is so good. And it’s non-toxic, chewy, and totally fantastic. It took me three years to get the perfect formula. And I think it’s an amazing product.

Who makes the best pair of basic underwear?

Baserange! It’s my favourite. I also really love The Kit, which is new.

What’s the best simple gift you can keep in your closet for anyone?

I still think candles are great. I always have a cupboard full of candles and posters, or just little gifts because everyone still loves a candle. You can not be wrong. Sometimes you buy wine for someone and they don’t drink or it’s the wrong size, wrong grape or whatever. So I think the candles are, that’s pretty good.

I really like the slightly woody, more musky scents. I always like a more masculine scent, like sandalwood and that sort of thing. Spice up.

What’s the best $ 10 you can spend as a gift that’s always worth it?

I think it’s always good to buy something that improves your well-being a bit, right? So whether it’s some kind of hydration pack, which you can add to the water, that will encourage you to drink more water, or maybe subscribe to a meditation app or something like that. Assuming it’s $ 10 in disposable income, something to process them.

Do you have any favorite meditation apps that you use?

My favorite is called Insight Timer, and I really love it. There are some great courses out there that I really got involved in on COVID. But I also like Headspace. I think it’s great and really good for beginners.

Wellness is something that has been a priority for many during the pandemic. But for someone who’s never done this before, what is an article or book or anything that can help newbies?

I mean, any book that talks about the importance of being in the present and how to get there. Let it be that old favorite, The power of the present, or something a little more academic by Osho, who was an amazing teacher. There are so many good books. I think all that is sort of gives you a roadmap on how to be present. I would start there.

Are there any books you are currently reading?

Yes, I read a lot, I always have a few on the move. Right now I’m reading a book called, I started yesterday, called The sum of us by Heather McGhee. I’m interviewing her soon for our podcast. So, I’m reading this. And then, what else am I reading? I have a novel I’m reading … The parable of the sower. He’s an old man, but a good one. It kind of depends on your mood for that day, right?
