How to choose the right workout clothes – Tikiboo

Exercise is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle, and the good news is that there are hundreds of ways to make some sort of activity part of your lifestyle (hurray!). Some people incorporate it into everyday life, combining exercise with tasks such as walking the dog (like you need an excuse to have a dog) or playing a few rounds of golf, while others prefer more obvious workout routines and choose to go for a run, aerobics, or join a yoga class.

A key point they all share, however, is the importance of choosing the right clothes for the planned activity. And it turns out that we’re pretty used to dressing head to toe in the right sportswear.

Why is choosing the right clothes for training important?

It’s not about having all the material and no idea. Quite simply, you need the right clothes: few people would actively choose to play golf in high heels or eat spaghetti with chopsticks (although we will definitely try that right after that!), Because we know that well. that neither is physically impossible, the chances of frustration and perhaps even injury (as well as hysterical failure) are much higher than they should be.

Active workout clothes deserve the same level of planning and thinking because they should keep you comfortable and confident, while helping you achieve the best possible results. It might seem like a difficult task, but it’s actually a fairly straightforward art to master, as long as you keep a few crucial points in mind.

Fast / high impact workouts

For women, the first priority is to choose a decent sports bra (is that right ?!) that will provide much-needed support. Some styles are designed for general or low impact physical activity like yoga; others offer more structure for high impact activities such as jogging, so obviously choosing the right one is important.

Newbies may be tempted to try exercising with loose sweatpants and a cotton t-shirt, and although the boyfriend look is a priority when we’re at home, neither one nor the other is in fact a good choice for any kind of genuine workout for several important reasons.

Choosing well-fitting gym leggings is actually safer when moving around in a dance or aerobics class, or when using equipment such as treadmills and stationary bikes, because wide-legged socks and ill-fitting can get caught in the mechanics or become a risky trip. They are also more likely to irritate the seams and trap sweat which, in turn, can irritate the skin – which is a solid no on our part.

Look for activewear designed specifically for exercise, like the range we carry (cheeky woop product sheet). Funky leggings not only look great, they’re made from materials including polypropylene which wicks sweat away from the skin, keeping you funky and cool, as well as comfortable, during the toughest workouts.

Low impact workouts

If you are a yogi, chances are you have different priorities with the need for well-fitting but very flexible workout clothes that will help rather than restrict movement. Tikiboo’s leggings come in two waist heights, as well as a discreet drawstring so that no matter what position you find yourself in, you can be sure your clothes will stay securely with you. If hot yoga is your thing, there are also shorts, which are made from the same flexible, sweat-resistant fabric.

All workouts

So, while you are wondering whether you should wear long or length leggings, and a long sleeve top or a vest, remember one of the most crucial dress decisions: sneakers.

Having the right shoes for your workout can transform (or hinder) your workout. You might think that all you need is a pair of sneakers to start training – and in theory, that’s a bit true – but at the end of the day, sneakers are really designed for different needs. So if you’re going to be spending a lot of time running, invest in good running trainers, and if you’re about to join the CrossFit cult, invest in the right trainers for training. Trust us, this is not a decision you should take lightly.

The secret of success

The key to successful training is twofold. For starters, you need to feel energized and confident about doing it, but it’s just as important that you get the most out of every workout possible. The key to both is choosing the right clothes, from underwear to shoes. Looking good means feeling good, but you also need to be safe, comfortable, and able to move freely and flexibly.

Your choice of workout outfits will shape your success, so make sure these decisions are smart.
