Jennifer Lopez on Coach, Fall Style and When She Feels Happiest
Jennifer Lopez is the happiest she has ever been and she will be the first to tell you. Of course, many of us know what (or rather who) is responsible. Following her split from her ex-fiance Alex Rodriguez, the singer rekindled a relationship with old flame Ben Affleck, and the two have since been spotted canoodling at Universal Studios, the Hamptons and on a yacht throughout. Europe, as we do. Considering that J.Lo is pretty much the poster child for nostalgic times and new beginnings, it’s no surprise that Coach chose her for his fall campaign, inspired by “our present and our future, this. what we’ve learned and where we’re going, ”says Creative Director Stuart Vevers. “It’s a story about friendship and how our loved ones inspire, support and shape us, and the excitement we feel about spending time together again … She celebrates the meaning of the possibility and the joy found in connection. “
Lopez is featured alongside Michael B. Jordan, Kōki and Jeremy Lin in the Campaign, photographed by Renell Medrano. This is a new collaboration between the superstar and the heritage brand, including the design of its first bag, the Hutton, last year. “Designs, details and craftsmanship with beautiful hardware continue to be a staple of Coach accessories,” said Lopez. “I have had several of their handbags that I keep rotating for many years.” As a mom, Lopez is keenly aware that her collection of bags is coveted by other members of her family. “I will definitely pass a lot of pieces [to my daughter], “she says.” One thing that’s great about Coach is that their pieces really stand the test of time. “
Here, J.Lo spoke to ELLE.com about her fall must-haves, what she loves about New York City, and the importance of making up for lost time with loved ones.
This campaign is all about the people coming together. What are you looking forward to after the pandemic?
My plan is to spend as much quality time as possible with my family and friends. Autumn always reminds me of holidays and traditions, so it’s a big priority. I like all the meetings, the holidays, the birthdays. I can’t wait to celebrate these special moments with everyone as we hopefully get closer to the end.
What are some of your fall wardrobe must-haves?
Growing up in New York City, fall was always a special time when the leaves changed and everyone felt refocused after the summer months. I love that the fall colors are a bit more sullen and richer and that you can wear different layers. I am particularly fond of a large, trendy coat as part of my look.
Coach is also a New York-centric brand. What do you like most about the city?
I love the energy and the people and the fact that they all seem to want to be alone, but when the going gets tough they all come together to help each other. It is certainly a difficult place, but it has such a character. New York has a pulse you can’t find anywhere else.
Do you have a favorite piece from the collection?
There is a very cool gray wool coat which is a perfect piece for fall. I’m also excited to start wearing the Soft Tabby.
What’s your key to dressing confidently?
For me, fashion is an extension of your personality, so make sure you wear things that make you happy.
When do you feel the happiest?
Spend time with loved ones.
