This year’s Pandemic Oscars saw history make, Chloe Zhao taking home the best director award for Nomadland. She not only became the second woman after 11 years to win the award, but in fact, she is the first woman of color to receive the same award.
Giving a heartfelt speech, she said, “I have always found kindness in people I have met wherever I have been in the world.”
“It is for anyone who has the faith and courage to hold on to the goodness within themselves and to hold onto the kindness of others, no matter how difficult it is.
Despite a toned-down ceremony, it was business as usual for Hollywood after a year of pandemic punishing them without hope, but this time at the 92nd awards show, the glam quotient is higher than ever. While almost everyone strutted around in dresses, the Nomadland The director kept it casual and comfy (we hope the future of red carpet fashion is easy because we’ve been in pajamas forever!)
Take a look as we break down the details for you.
Chloe Zhao kept it casual but formal in a Hermès dress with flowing sleeves and neatly placed rhinestones over the beige dress. Completing the look with chunky white sneakers, she went for French braids and minimal makeup.
Hoping the post-pandemic Oscars embrace and embrace the casual, just like the Nomadlandwhole director.
