Rhea Chakraborty, Swara Bhaskar and Armaan Malik on the crisis in Afghanistan: “The broken heart”
Sunday, The Taliban took control of the Afghan capital Kabul, thus completing their takeover of the country. Images of empty streets and crowded airports with people trying to flee the country left the world heartbroken. Bollywood celebrities like Rhea Chakraborty, Sonu Sood, Swara Bhasker, Kangana Ranaut, Armaan Malik, among others, have also taken to social media to express their solidarity with the war-torn country and its people.
Chehre actress Rhea Chakraborty posted a story on Instagram expressing grief over the condition of women in Afghanistan. Using the hashtag #Smashthepatriarchy, she wrote: “As women around the world fight for pay equity, women in Afghanistan are sold – they have become the pay. Heartbroken to see the condition of women and minorities in Afghanistan. Urge world leaders to oppose it! Women are human too.
TV actor Karan Tacker also shared a note that read: “Devastated by the plight of women in Afghanistan, shame on humanity. While the world sits and watches this in silence.
Swara Bhaskar shared a painting of a woman surrounded by the Taliban and wrote: “Afghan graffiti artist @ShamsiaHassani said it all! The Afghan people have been cast to the wolves. Women esp. The #taliban are monstrous in their brutal exercise of strength and power. They are murderers and misogynists; their ideology is one of hatred and violence and that will not change.
