Rihanna made a resounding return to New York City earlier this week, alongside her boyfriend A $ AP Rocky. Aside from the fuzzy pink bob and babydoll dress, eagle-eyed fans quickly noticed that one of Rihanna’s iconic tattoos, a camouflaged baby shark, was no longer on her ankle but was covered in a brand new tattoo.

If you remember, Rihanna’s shark tattoo was done in 2016 and represents a special date Rih had with Drake, who took her to an aquarium in Toronto. According to E !, Rih’s tattoo was done by Bang Bang NYC. “Camo shark for my dear friend @badgalriri,” the tattoo artist wrote at the time.

It’s unclear why or when Rih decided to cover up his shark tattoo, but we can guess that his new relationship with A $ AP Rocky could have something to do with it. After all, Rih and Drake’s romance has long ended, even though they can still playfully interact on Instagram Live, and Rih seems pretty happy with her new beau. While in New York this week, the couple were pictured kissing and cuddling on the street before heading to a local bar.

Last month, Rocky opened up about his relationship with Rihanna, calling him “the love of my life.”

“It’s so much better when you have the One. She probably represents, like, a million other people. I think when you know, you know. She’s the One,” the rapper said at point of sale. Will Rih and Rocky have matching tattoos next?
