SAG Awards 2022: Michael Douglas, Shari Belafonte and more show their support for Ukraine on the red carpet

Fashion has always been used as an essential tool to make strong political statements, imbued with subtlety and power. This is exactly what we witnessed during the 28th edition of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards Sunday night, where a host of celebrities threw their support behind Ukraine amid the ongoing Russian invasion of the Eastern European country.

Stars like Tyler Perry, Michael Douglas and Jon Bernthal among others have expressed their solidarity with Ukraine with their props, using the red carpet as a stage to amplify their voices.

American actor and producer Michael Douglas, who has received many prestigious awards in the past, opted for a blue and yellow pocket square, representing the colors of the Ukrainian flag, on the Red carpet.

“It is an acknowledgment of what is happening in Ukraine. It’s just an amazing democracy and if there’s ever any reason to realize that the separation between democracy and autocracy or dictatorship is now, we seemed to forget that hopefully it reminds us how precious this is,” he said.
