Skechers’ collaboration with Kansai Yamamoto has arrived
For the summer of 2021, one truth stands out: people want fun in their lives and are ready to go near and far to find it. That’s why Skechers x kansaïyamamoto fits the moment so perfectly. Each of the four styles included in the limited edition launch collection are bold and bright – the epitome of shoe fun and fashion – and comfortable, ready to wear on vacation, pounding the pavement while exploring the city, or even running through an airport (remember those days ??).
The feel of the moment is something that makes sense for a collection named after Kansai Yamamoto, a designer who has been at the forefront of culture throughout his career and even after his passing in July 2020. His signature style drew heavily on the most iconic element of Japanese culture, Kabuki, and used the stylized approach to the art form for dramatic costume and makeup. He has seen victories in pop and high culture, showing up at fashion week and outfitting some of the most famous musicians of the ’70s.
While the collaboration was published posthumously, introduced on the first anniversary of the artist’s death, it still bears Kansai’s fingerprints. It’s easy to see how his love of bright colors and dramatic combinations came to life in the Skechers Max Cushioning Premier ™ fashion sneakers for women and men. The brand’s choice of Max Cushioning technology for the collaboration’s launch styles makes the news even more exciting, as it ensures ultimate comfort with advancements like responsive ULTRA GO® cushioning and a breathable Skechers Air sockliner. -Cooled Goga Mat ™. A follow-up version of the iconic Skechers D’Lites® style with the Kansai aesthetic is due out on August 21.
The combination of cutting-edge comfort technology and a decidedly luminous design is what earns the collaboration its #ELLELoves seal of approval. Worn with anything and anywhere (running from work to play, then maybe literally run to the gym), that’s all we want right now.
