Sonali Bendre and Tahira Kashyap recount their journey on Cancer Survivors Day: “Never be ashamed of a scar”
Actress Sonali Bendre and filmmaker Tahira Kashyap reflected on their cancer battle on Cancer Survivors Day on Sunday with emotional social media posts. Sonali Bendre announced in 2018 that she had been detected with “high grade cancer”. The actor-writer then underwent treatment for nearly five months in New York.
Posting before and after photos of the treatment on her social media accounts, Sonali wrote that she finds it surreal that the difficult time in her life has passed. “How time flies… today, when I look back, I see strength, I see weakness but above all I see the will not to let the C word define how my life will be after that… You create the life you choose. Travel is what you make of it… so don’t forget to take #OneDayAtATime and #SwitchOnTheSunshine #CancerSurvivorsDay, ”read her post.

That same year, Tahira Kashyap shared that she was diagnosed with stage 0 breast cancer and had a mastectomy. Sharing a sketch of herself with her bare back facing the camera, Tahira wrote a powerful message, asking people to wear their cancer scars with pride rather than being ashamed of it.
Never be ashamed of a scar. It just means that you were stronger than anything that tried to hurt you. Everyone has scars whether you see them or not. Wear yours with pride. #NationalCancerSurvivorsDay, ”Tahira wrote.
