Reinventing classic elegance through a distinct lens

I love classics and tradition, but I want them to be my way, my personal style reflects that. I appreciate the craft of making clothes and I like my clothes to be well made and understated. I appreciate a modernized take on 1950s elegance; I like an opera glove; I like things that tickle a bit of nostalgia, but don’t feel too forced or referential. And I love men’s fashion. For the most part, people hire me for a clean, minimal style. My clothes often reflect this in a professional setting.

Discover the creativity that drives your passion

I’ve always been someone who needs to dress a certain way to feel good. When I was very young, I always wanted to wear pink because it made me feel safe and happy. My mom really encouraged me to make style choices for myself based on what I liked and what appealed to me, regardless of trends. She’s big on being an individual.

Drawing inspiration from his style icons

The way my mother did her shopping was very smart; I learned a lot from her about how to buy clothes. She has planned everything: “I need a skirt, a top and pants; Then I need a sweater to go with the skirt, a sweater to go with my pants, a winter coat, and then shoes for different weather changes. Her pieces were always very classic, so she never ran out of things to wear. And she was always very individual in her look.

Finding a balance between utility and beauty

For me, emotional buying is something you see that sends shivers down your spine. You get that “If I don’t get this dress, I’m going to regret it for the rest of my life” feeling. In these moments, you have a connection with a designer where you say to yourself “we understand each other”.

But convenient shopping should also be exciting. If you need a blazer, t-shirt or jeans, they don’t have to be boring, they still have to make you feel good. It’s like buying a car. You want features that will make your life easier and fit seamlessly into your life, but you also want them to look good.

Inspired by the streets of New York

I’ve always had a bit of duality in my personality and my style. And I didn’t really feel like I had any sense until I moved to New York. I feel so cliché saying this, but New York is the only place people who don’t fit anywhere can find their people. When you move to New York, you can immediately be yourself among the individuality that is here.

When I moved to town I was 23 and still figuring out who I wanted to be, what I wanted to do with my life, and the kind of people I wanted to surround myself with. Once I decided on those things, however, my personal style reflected that. Even though some people trivialize fashion, there is so much you can say about yourself through it without saying anything at all.

Choose basics with a sophisticated and timeless style

I have a vintage pair of really nice straight leg jeans, indigo, dark denim, and they will never go out of style. I can wear them with old vintage pieces or current trends. I prefer dark indigo because it works better for dressing up a look. My oversized blazer is the most reliable thing I have in my wardrobe. It’s sophisticated, sleek, and just big enough for me to wear as a mini dress. Another thing that has been heavily rotated is a brown sweater vest. I know the original sweater vests have been really popular the last few seasons, but this is just a clean basic that I could have bought at a uniform store. All of these pieces make me feel polished. I feel most like myself when I’m in a clean, polished look.

I have a pair of maribou stilettos that I call “sexy girl shoes”. They’re not good for anything other than that, they’re just hot! I pair them with a tuxedo, because I like the balance. If I go to ballet, I’ll wear a very buttoned-up suit with these shoes. Many of my key pieces look like collector’s items. I used to collect dolls, now I collect rare vintages. I have a trench coat with shoulder pads that I love.

Organize spaces that boost your creativity

When I get up in the morning, I want to look at something beautiful that makes me think and inspires me. Rich hues make me happier, so my home has more pops of color than my usual wardrobe of black, white, cream, and ivory. I really love using color in my work, and having it in my home and living spaces helps spark that creativity.

Explore a wide world of possibilities

I am fully experiencing the power of living in New York with a car. Road trips are my love language, so my boyfriend and I take a lot of long trips. We recently went to Montauk, and it’s such a beautiful drive. Sometimes we drive to the furthest point in Queens to get dim sum, because we can. When you’re in New York, you just forget that there’s this beautiful world out there, because this little island seems so big. A change of scenery can be incredibly inspiring.
