The white lotus made us laugh. It brought us irony. This brought us Jennifer Coolidge sobbing in an ash box and Alexandra Daddario get every journalist to question their work. And while we have to say goodbye to the swaying palm trees and yellowish skies of The White Lotus’ famous Hawaiian property, HBO has confirmed that the vacation only needs a slight detour: The acclaimed social satire returns for a second season, this time in a new location and with a new cast of VIPs.

By Deadline, season 2 of The white lotus will leave the Hawaiian murder mystery drama in exchange for an as-yet-undisclosed premise. But rest assured, the story will follow another group of privileged travelers as they check into a White Lotus property and return home forever changed. As we look forward to the Season 1 finale, here’s what little we know about what’s to come.

What will be The white lotus is season 2 about?

The first season followed three groups of guests as they attempted a relaxing vacation in Maui, only for about all go wrong and end in unexpected death. Because showrunner Mike White will also be involved in the second season, we can anticipate that he will follow a similar trajectory – perhaps not involving murder, but who knows? – and will force its high-level visitors to examine their moral flaws.

“Mike has once again delivered a quintessential HBO show, and it’s the talk of the town,” Francesca Orsi, vice president of programming at HBO, said in a statement following the announcement of the season. 2. “We were thrilled to hear where he wanted to go next, after wrapping up this epic chapter in Hawaii, and we look forward to continuing to follow him wherever he takes us.”

Where will it take place?

There’s no official word where our oblivious guests are heading next, but it looks like it won’t be Hawaii. White told TVLine “it should be a different hotel, like, say, The White Lotus: San Tropez or something. “And in an interview with Vanity Fair, he alluded to possible locations in France or Japan.

Who will be in the cast?

It will probably be a few months before we hear any news on the cast, but luckily there are plenty of Hollywood stars who are beloved for their portrayals of empowered wealthy people. (Basically the whole cast of Big little lies seems to fit well.) We only have one request: Please bring Daddario back as an investigative reporter solving murder mysteries. This poor woman deserves a little boost of confidence.
