Tyler, the creator plays secret shows in a $ 15 t-shirt
Tyler, The Creator – rapper, god of style, fashion designer – does it all with magnetic arrogance. His latest album, Call me if you get lost, is stuffed with his signature swagger. He’s known for taking his timepiece to stratospheric levels and wearing fur hats that make sense in Siberia (or at least, you know, in winter). In the wake of his breezy performance at the BET Awards, he’s put on a series of secret electric shows across America – and the Grammy-winning artist does it in a GQ-winning t-shirt that costs just $ 15. $: the Uniqlo U T-shirt. Designer Mark Sabino, honorary correspondent for GQ Tyler Tee, confirmed:
This comes from last Thursday’s secret show in Brooklyn, where Tyler banged his ass in a brand new Uniqlo U tee, complete with a few stacked necklaces, unreleased shorts from his own label, Golf Wang, and a pair. of Doc Martens moccasins. (The Siberian hat also made an appearance, at least until it got too hot.)
Out of the sea of white t-shirts he could choose from, what made Uniqlo U t-shirt Tyler’s? Is it the fact that it’s on GQ’s list of best white t-shirts? What was called the Uniqlo U line, designed by Christophe Lemaire, a “cheat code” to be styled? That this is a hell of a good t-shirt at a hell of a price? Maybe, maybe, and almost certainly.
Whether he’s teaching us the virtues of shorts or expressing his skincare poetry, Tyler is one of the most stylish guys in the game, with his signature golf-daddy meet-skater-kid aesthetic. Put the dizzying swashbuckling and fuzzy hats aside, and you’ll notice that his go-to uniform is something most guys can pull off without feeling like they’re putting themselves forward. Cardigans over T-shirts, relaxed chinos, a sleeveless sweater, classic sneakers – wardrobe staples that don’t require an insane level of confidence to rock. Even through fame and the golden grids, Tyler continues to wear more humble, but no less elegant clothes.
