Ukraine crisis: Bella Hadid says it’s ‘incredibly strange to be in fashion shows’


With Russian forces invading Ukraine and Europe facing a geopolitical crisis, everything else has seemingly become less important. Across the world, many celebrities are currently using their influence to call for peace, and among them is supermodel Bella Hadid.

The 25-year-old threw her support behind fellow member Mica Argañaraz, who posted stories on Instagram announcing that she will be donating part of her fashion week earnings to Ukrainian organisations. Take a look at his message.

Argañaraz’s post read, “I have to say it’s very weird to walk in fashion shows knowing there’s a war going on on the same continent. I will donate part of my winnings from this fashion week to help Ukrainian organizations. To my model friends and fellow models and anyone else who is also struggling with this feeling, maybe this is something we could all contribute to.

Many other models, including Bella, shared his message and joined his initiative. The model, who is the younger sister of supermodel Gigi Hadid, and who is part Palestinian and part Dutch, wrote on Instagram: “You said it @micaarganaraz. We have a lot of Ukrainian friends, colleagues, models, production, casting and to see the lack of communication/knowledge about a war subsiding is very very sad.

“It’s incredibly strange to walk in fashion shows like our job, especially in a time like this. I’m forcing people in our industry to do their research and have open conversations about the hell that’s going on. pass by,” she continued.

The model also wrote that fashion can be ‘very lonely’ and can make you ‘feel like an outcast’. “…even more so when it comes to politics/something other than ‘fashion’.”

She also encouraged her followers to “remember and talk about all the wars that have been going on and going on for years around the world.”
