Varun Dhawan, Rajkummar Rao condemn YouTuber’s racist comment against Arunachal Pradesh MP: ‘more acceptable’

Actors Varun Dhawan and Rajkummar Rao condemned Paras Singh, a YouTuber, for his alleged racist comment on Arunachal Pradesh MP Ninong Ering in one of his videos. Varun shared a screenshot of a news article initially shared by Stree director Amar Kaushik and wrote: “Being ignorant of your country and region is stupidity in itself, but when that ignorance is expressed offensively, it becomes toxic. We must all denounce and condemn such ignorance with one voice and make all idiots understand THAT IT IS NO LONGER ACCEPTABLE.

Rajkummar Rao also reposted the same note on Tuesday, noting that this behavior is “unacceptable”.

The YouTuber, who calls himself “ Paras Official ” on the video platform, called Congressman Ninong Ering “ non-Indian ” in a video posted Sunday. He also said that “the state was not part of India, but that of China”, triggering an outcry. He then apologized in a separate video. On Tuesday he was arrested in the Punjab.

Last month, Varun finished filming Amar Kaushik’s Bhediya in Arunachal Pradesh with Kriti Sanon. The actor has become fond of the state, which is untouched by pollution and the adversities of a city. While the actor spent time with his wife Natasha Dalal after finishing his filming, the two had donated Rs 1 lakh to a small village in the state which was struggling with wildfires.

Bhediya, supported by Dinesh Vijan, also stars Abhishek Banerjee. The film is the third part of horror comedy franchise from producer Dinesh Vijan which features the 2018 hit Stree and recently released Janhvi Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao star Roohi. Bhediya will arrive in theaters on April 14, 2022.
